PUTIN MIGHT VISIT IRAN—IF THEY EVER PICK A DATE
The Kremlin says the trip is still “being worked out,” which is another way of saying: nobody’s booked the flight.
This would be Putin’s first trip to Tehran since 2022, when he visited just months after invading Ukraine.
Since then, Russia and Iran have signed a 20-year strategic agreement, traded weapons, and pledged cooperation on nuclear energy.
Both countries are heavily sanctioned and increasingly isolated by the West, so a meeting between them isn’t just ceremonial — it’s geopolitical chess.
Kremlin Spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov:
“Indeed, President Putin has an invitation to pay an official or working visit to Iran. The dates have not yet been agreed. As soon as they are agreed, we will inform you.”
