RUSSIA GRABS OIL TANKER IN BALTIC SEA—NATO ALERTED
A Greek-owned oil tanker, Green Admire, was reportedly detained by Russia after leaving an Estonian port through a legally approved sea route.
The tanker was flying a Liberian flag (a common trick in global shipping) and carrying a load of shale oil headed for Rotterdam.
It was briefly using a channel through Russian waters—part of a long-standing agreement between Russia, Finland, and Estonia designed to avoid shallow areas.
Russia still seized it.
Estonia’s foreign minister called the move “unpredictable” and notified NATO—because yes, this is the kind of thing that sets off international alarms.
This comes just days after Russia allegedly sent a fighter jet into NATO airspace during another maritime standoff involving a shadowy oil fleet suspected of helping Russia dodge sanctions.
It’s not just spy games and submarines anymore—these are serious tensions involving trade routes, energy supplies, and global security.
