Dear Sui community, thank you for your patience while our team works on the incident investigation and resolution.
Since taking the actions indicated in our previous announcement, we have also done the following:
-
We engaged the broader ecosystem, Sui team, and related third parties for incident analysis and fund tracing, and flagged the hacker’s accounts.
-
We identified the root cause of the exploit and fixed the related package, and informed ecosystem builders as fast as we could with help from ecosystem members to prevent other teams being affected.
-
We engaged professional anti-cybercrime organizations to support our fund tracing and our negotiation regarding safe return of the funds.
-
We are speaking with law enforcement and are in the process of arranging further assistance.
We have identified the Ethereum wallet address controlled by the hacker responsible for earlier today’s exploit, and reached out to negotiate the return of customer funds. We have offered a time-sensitive whitehat settlement in exchange for the outstanding balance. Should the hacker accept our terms, we would also refrain from pursuing further legal action.
